GENEART AG

Field of operations

GENEART provides integrated system solutions for DNA engineering and processing based on the gene synthesis technology platform to deliver improved drugs and biotech products. The services portfolio ranges from the production of optimized synthetic genes and the generation of gene variants and gene libraries in combinatorial biology (gene evolution) right through to the production of DNA-based agents.

Markets and business areas

GENEART's services are utilized by pharmaceutical and biotech companies, and research institutes on the following markets:

Red Biotechnology:

  • DNA-based drugs and recombinant vaccines
  • Protein drugs

White Biotechnology:

  • Biocatalysts (enzymes, e.g. for industrial processes and consumer goods)

Green Biotechnology

  • Production of biopharmaceuticals in plants
  • Transgenic plants

Technology and Services

  • Gene optimization and gene synthesis
Based on its proprietary GeneOptimizer™ sequence design software (patent pending), GENEART optimizes genes according to client demands. The interdisciplinary gene synthesis process combines bioinformatics, organic chemistry and molecular biology to deliver a quality-assured, documented gene optimized for the specific application within 2 - 4 weeks. DNA molecules are manufactured under license from F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. The entire gene synthesis process is certified to DIN ISO 9001:2000.
  • Gene evolution services
Taking a master gene as its starting point, GENEART's GeneEvolution business unit can generate individual gene variants, and specific or randomized gene libraries.
  • Research-grade plasmid production and manufacture of DNA-based agents (cGMP)
For more in-depth research and development, GENEART supplies different scales of plasmid-encoded genes and gene variants in the required quantity and quality – right up to cGMP grade.
