Sales Team Central Europe

Arnd Dankesreiter, Ph.D.
Scientific Sales Central Europe
Senior Manager

Dr. Dankesreiter is responsible for our customers in Central Europe. He started his scientific career in Physical Biochemistry, studying protein expression and protein stability from scratch. Getting attracted by “pure” molecular biology within this period, he switched to work on protein DNA interactions and promoter studies for his PhD.  Before joining Geneart in 2003, Dr. Dankesreiter was successfully creating recombinant adenoviruses as antitumoral therapeutic agents as part of his post doctoral research.

Volker Metzger
Scientific Sales Central Europe
Manager

Volker Metzger started his career at the University of Stuttgart and finished his masters theses at Roche Diagnostics, Penzberg, working on a PCR based strategy for the cell free protein expression system (RTS). During his PhD studies at the TU Munich he developed a method for the extraction of proteins from formalin fixed and paraffin embedded archival materials.

Michael Schwemmlein, Ph.D.

Scientific Sales Central Europe
Manager

Dr. Michael Schwemmlein joined Geneart in November 2007 to support the scientific sales team. He started his research career with the generation of Phage Display libraries and the cloning of antibody derived molecules at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. For his PhD thesis he focused on the cloning, expression and functional characterisation of therapeutic fusion proteins directed against leukaemia associated surface antigens. During a post-doctoral period, Michael continued his studies searching for new recombinant anti-cancer agents.

Sales Team Western Europe

Stefan Weinges, Ph.D.
Scientific Sales Western Europe
Manager

Dr. Stefan Weinges joined GENEART in early 2006 to support the Sales team. He pursued his undergraduate studies of biology at both the University of Heidelberg and Flinders University, Australia, where his research focused on the regulation of transcription in the brain. Stefan then moved to Munich to complete his PhD in molecular developmental biology at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology, where he studied signaling mechanisms in nervous system development. Most of this work contributed to his first authorship publication in Nature Neuroscience. While working on his PhD, Stefan also earned a Bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Hagen.

Nina Albrecht, Ph.D.,
Scientific Sales Western Europe
Manager

Dr. Nina Albrecht is responsible for our customers in Western Europe. After finishing her graduate studies in biology with emphasis on Virology concerning HIV-mRNA transport mechanisms at the University of Erlangen-Nuernberg and University of Melbourne, she was still very attracted by virology and performed her PhD thesis at the Heinrich-Pette-Institute in Hamburg, Germany, a member of the Leibniz-Association, with focus on the manifold virus-host interactions of Herpes Simplex Viruses. During her PhD and post doctoral years she was able to identify and characterize a new interaction between cellular and viral components involved in the cellular defense mechanism against herpes viral infection.
